FAQ

Your questions (FAQ)

At Falcon Ink, we want everyone to feel comfortable.
Getting your tattoo should be a special, comfortable experience!
We completely understand if you have some questions about the session, the process of getting your tattoo or how to best care for your tattoo.
To help you get started more quickly, we have collected and answered some frequently asked questions.
Take a quick look to see if your question is among them!

Why is it that the body seems to get used to the feeling during tattooing?

It is true that the body adapts to the sensitivity of tattooing.
The “stress” caused by tattooing leads to an increased release of the hormones adrenaline and endorphins, thus reducing the pain, so to speak.

A wound occurs after tattooing because the skin breaks down.
With proper care, it takes an average of six weeks for the tattoo to heal.

We work by appointment only, so we have all the time we need to make your tattoo dream come to life and brainstorm all the possibilities together!

The cost of a tattoo varies and depends entirely on your unique design.
During an informal intake we will gladly look together at what is possible!

Young people aged 12 to 16 may only get a tattoo with parental (or guardian) permission.
And yes, your parents must also be present when the tattoo is done!
For this age group, tattoos on the head, neck, wrists or hands are not yet allowed.

Yes, we must adhere to strict hygiene regulations, including the use of sterile needles and gloves.

These possibilities exist, but unfortunately not at Falcon Ink!

We are not currently setting piercings.

Are you planning to get your first tattoo?
How exciting!
First, do some research on the tattoo you would like to get.
Do you still have questions or doubts?
Then schedule an informal intake.
Together we can list your ideas and see what is possible!

We have the best artist for every tattoo style you can imagine.
From realism, black and gray, color to ornamental and more!
You share your design with us and we make sure the best artist for that style is in our studio, even if we have to get them from the other side of the world!
We work with only award winning artists for each style.

Working out after your new tattoo?
You can definitely do it, but with a little patience!
Stick to our care advice and wait at least a week.
Do you play contact sports?
Then, unfortunately, you have to rest for two weeks.

Generally, hourly tattoo rates run very much out of one, but with us we work on a project basis, so you know up front where you stand!

An old tattoo can still be beautiful, but just like you, your tattoo is getting older.
Your collagen decreases and the elasticity of your skin also decreases.
Your skin also becomes less and less even, and this is where the tattoo changes with your body.

Many people describe the feeling of getting a tattoo as a kind of scratching or stinging sensation across the skin.

Losing weight can make your tattoo change shape, but also if you gain weight it will affect your tattoo!
So too many fluctuations in your weight can definitely affect the tattoo.

You have three choices: lasering, a cover up or learning to live with your tattoo!
If you’re going for a cover-up, be sure to stop by the studio.
We’ll be happy to go over your options together!
That way you don’t have to walk around with a feeling of regret, but together we’ll make it a pleasant experience!

Of course, getting a tattoo hurts.
How much pain you feel depends entirely on the spot and how sensitive your skin is, as well as whether you get tattooed a lot in the same spot.

In most cases, the answer is yes, but it can vary from situation to situation and it can sometimes take a while.
It all depends on the type of scar, its thickness and its location.
Always contact a dermatologist first to get expert advice on this.
Once the dermatologist has given the green light, we can discuss options in the studio.

It is generally not recommended to get a tattoo during pregnancy because of the risk of infection.
For this reason, we do not place tattoos when a woman is pregnant.

No, as there is a risk of infection and transmission of harmful substances through the skin.
An infection or severe reaction to the tattoo may affect the mother’s general well-being, which may indirectly affect breastfeeding.
Be wise and wait to make an appointment when you stop breastfeeding.

This depends on the type of medication you are taking.
Some medications can thin the blood considerably, so always consult your doctor beforehand.
When the doctor gives permission, the options can be discussed with our artist!

A tattoo is generally safe if it is performed by a professional and hygienic studio with all the necessary documents and permits.
Currently, there is no evidence that a tattoo causes health problems.

The risk of cancer from tattoos is small, but there are inks that contain harmful substances.

Make sure you sleep well the nights before your appointment and on the day of your appointment, have a healthy breakfast with plenty of carbohydrates, fruit and drink plenty of water.

In most cases, you can hide stretch marks just fine with one or more tattoos!
But remember that the condition of your skin is super important and this also depends on the severity and color of the stretch marks.
The stretch marks must be well healed before we can put a beautiful tattoo.
And above all, don’t forget that the advice of a dermatologist is always a good step!

Yes, but tattooing over a mole to cover it is not a good idea.
This is because birthmarks cannot be checked for changes afterwards.
So we will always tattoo around the birthmarks.

Eventually, yes, but we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with water.
Especially during the first few weeks after getting your tattoo, it is important not to swim.
Our advice is to avoid swimming for at least two to four weeks after getting the tattoo to reduce infection risks.

You can’t go out in the sun with your new tattoo until the top layer of skin is completely healed!
This means that all the skin flakes and scabs should be gone and your tattoo should feel nice and smooth.
How long this takes varies from person to person: some can sunbathe after just two weeks, while others may have to wait as long as four weeks.
Patience is a virtue!

Always listen to the advice given by the artist.
After all, every artist has his or her own style with a corresponding care process.

If you follow your artist’s aftercare instructions carefully, touch-ups are usually not necessary!
But it can always happen that for some reason you still want some adjustments.
Just contact us and together we will see what needs to be touched up!

No.
The skin recovers the moment it receives oxygen, so by using plastic film you are hindering the recovery process.
Therefore, always follow the aftercare instructions from your artist.

Always use lukewarm water combined with an unpurified soap.
We recommend the products from Carl & Johan that we sell in our studio.

Yes, you can!
But make sure shampoos and other products do not touch your tattoo.

Before going to bed, you can rub your tattoo with a little ointment, but don’t spread too much; a thin layer is perfect.
This will allow the wound to breathe!
If necessary, put on a cotton shirt or pajamas to protect both your tattoo and your bedding.

No, this is actually a good thing.
This means that the skin is recovering.
It is important not to scratch; this has adverse effects on the recovery process.

Get a good night’s sleep, a strong and healthy breakfast and avoid too much caffeine, alcohol, drugs and blood-thinning medications.

How long a session takes depends on the design, your skin, the complexity and the artist.
Remember: your ink tells your story, and we are here to turn that story into art on your skin!

The duration of a session also depends on the design, its complicity, the artist and your skin.

No, the artist always does this before he starts tattooing.

No, we don’t use that here.
Although it is sometimes promoted on the Internet as a great tool to reduce pain, we believe it is not effective.
It is better not to start with this!

In general, we do not recommend getting your tattoo in the summer.
This way you avoid having to sit in the sun or go swimming.
It is smarter to choose a period when you have enough time to take good care of your tattoo!

Yes this can be done, but be aware of the extra care needed to avoid sun and water exposure.

Alcohol thins your blood, so we recommend that you avoid drinking alcohol at least 24 hours before your appointment.
This is because thinning the blood can affect healing.

We absolutely do not recommend smoking weed/hash beforehand.
It can affect your perception of pain and also can lead to a higher bleeding tendency.

Put on clean but comfortable clothes that are allowed to get dirty.
We work with ink, so there is a chance your outfit may get some stains from it.
Better take the safe, for sure!

Eat healthy meals with plenty of carbohydrates and fruits.
In addition, drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.
If your tattoo session lasts a few hours, bring some salts or something sweet to give yourself a boost!

No, we don’t do that here!
We only put tattoos with cremation ash if it meets the safety requirements of the Commodities Act.
In practice, this is actually not possible, which is why we don’t do it.

Yes definitely, color tattoos are allowed!

We always work with sterile, single-use needles.
The type of needle used depends on the tattoo to be placed.
